Technical Sales Representative, Brian Lowe started training for the Detroit Free Press Marathon earlier this year. To read about Brian’s journey, click here.
For Brian’s 5th Marathon, he decided to raise money for The Hospice of Windsor/Essex County. Earlier this month Commonwealth Oil’s own number 574 completed the Marathon in an impressive 4 hours and 47 minutes!
What is even more impressive is that Brian raised over $7000 for The Hospice, through generous donations. His sister-in-law and her coworkers at Sun Media contributed $1100 to the total and his mother-in-law, Sandy DiPasquale and her sisters held a dinner at Place Concord in Windsor, Ontario that contributed $5000 to the total.
Way to go Brian! To congratulate Brian on this great accomplishment, you can e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’d like to also thank all those Distributors, Customers and Friends of Commonwealth Oil that donated.

In an article entitled ‘Do Better in Your Waking Hours by Sleeping Better’, author John McKee argues that in order to be successful at your job you need to have quality sleep. “When you are sleep deprived, you become more emotional, more irritable, and less clear-headed.”
Clearly, sleep is important for your mood, but a study by the APA found that more than 60% of us have sleep problems, and 40% of adults experience daytime sleepiness. Though there is no standard for how many hours of sleep you should get a night, it’s important that the hours you do lend toward sleeping, are the best possible. John offers some tips for getting a good nights rest:
1. De-stress before you go to bed. Take 30 minutes before bedtime to think of all the things you need to do tomorrow, and everything that happened throughout the day, so you’re not thinking about it once you’re in bed.
2. Don’t sleep with a LED alarm clock next to your bed. You get in the habit of looking at the time when you wake up in the night, which causes you to think in your sleep. Also, the light prevents you from having a dark room.
3. Caffeine at noon can still be in your system at midnight. Make sure you’re not over-indulging on caffeine products.
4. TV has no place in the bedroom, it may help you fall asleep but it can also disrupt your sleep.
5. Walk around. If you’re in bed and you can’t fall asleep, or you’ve woken up and can’t go back to sleep- get out of the environment, walk around and then come back and start over.

Commonwealth Oil offers two types of greases: Regal complex EP 2 and Exact NLGI #2 Aluminum Complex. Both products are all-purpose, extreme pressure greases.
Regal Complex EP 2 is an incredibly versatile, long lasting, lithium complex based grease. It meets the lubrication requirements of plain and anti-friction bearings, gears and couplings in all general industrial applications. Regal Complex EP 2 is buttery brown in colour and offers outstanding lubricity in a wide variety of operating conditions and temperatures. This grease contains no lead or other heavy metals and provides resistance to mechanical breakdown or shearing. Paired with excellent oxidation resistance and good rust protection, this is a multi-purpose grease with a dropping point of 250°C (482°F).
Exact NLGI #2 Aluminum Complex is a NSF Registered H1 grease for incidental food contact and excels during tough or wet conditions. It has outstanding corrosion protection and is recommended for high temperature applications, ball roller, journal and sliding bearings.
